Order of the Arrow Elections
This week, we will be holding our Order of the Arrow elections. In order to actually hold the elections, we will need as many Scouts from the troop to participate as we can. Please make plans to attend the virtual meeting so that you can vote for our new OA Representative.

Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
Troop 77 is helping to facilitate and host an Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) training course this month (February). The purpose of the ILST course is to teach Scouts about leadership and leadership positions and how to reach success most effectively in any leadership role they now hold or may hold in the future. It is intended to help Scouts understand leadership positions within the Troop and their responsibilities and to equip them with organizational and leadership skills to fulfill those responsibilities. ILST is the first course in the series of leadership training offered to Scouts. Completion of ILST is a prerequisite for Scouts to participate in the more advanced leadership courses National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE). It is also required to participate in a Kodiak Challenge Trek. Upon completion, the Scouts will be officially trained and can wear the “Trained” patch on your uniform.
While ILST is somewhat geared toward younger Scouts or those holding positions of responsibility for the first time, you are welcome to complete the course again if you have a new position of responsibility and would like a refresher course to maximize your leadership opportunities in your new role.
ILST consists of three modules. Module 1 (ILST Introduction to Leadership Skills) and Module 2 (ILST Tools of Leadership) are offered online through my.Scouting.org. If your Scout does not already have their own my.Scouting.org account, then you will need to create a new one for them to take Modules 1 and 2. Instructions for setting up my.Scouting.org accounts are below as well as information on finding the classes for Modules 1 and 2 once you have a my.Scouting.org account created.
In addition to completing Modules 1 and 2 online, you will need to complete Module 3 via a Troop 77 Zoom call, which will last about an hour to an hour and a half. That Zoom call will be on Thursday, February 25th at 7:30P. You must complete Modules 1 and 2 online to attend Module 3 via Zoom. I have set up a Sign-up Genius (SUG) so that you can go in and register for the 2/25 Zoom meeting (Zoom instructions are in the Sign-up Genius) at:

Summer Camp
Summer camp registration is already open. We will be posting more detailed information about camp this week. We will also be joining Troop 77 for their Summer Camp information night on March 9th. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Taylor.
Advancement Day
On March 27, Troop 77 and 177 will be holding an advancement day event. This will take place in the morning and will focus on advancement activities for Scouts working on Scout through First Class rank requirements. Scouts working on Life Rank will also have the opportunity to work on teaching younger Scouts one of these skills using the EDGE method. If you would like to participate, please let your Patrol Leader know.
Annual Planning
In the afternoon on March 27th, Troop 77 and 177 will have a combined annual planning event, to set the camping calendar for the next 12-18 months. This will be held outside and socially distanced at Oak Grove UMC. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, then it will be held via zoom. In order to make this as productive as possible, we will need as many youth leaders as possible to attend. If you are a Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, or Scribe, you should plan on participating.
Additionally, all Scouts should be thinking of activities they would like to participate in and/or locations they would like to go camping. We will be working as patrols to compile these ideas to take to the combined meeting with T77. Now is the time to give your input on the activities for the next year.
Advancement
We again want to congratulate Julia, Abby, Autumn, Leigh, and Violet who have all advanced a rank this month. It’s great to see so much progress even as we’ve had to go back to virtual meetings.
