Meeting This Week
This week, we will have a Drug and Alcohol awareness program presented by members of the troop. Everyone should be prepared to present on the drug that was assigned at our last meeting. If you did not get an assignment please let Jamie know as soon as possible so you will have something to present to the troop.
Scoutmaster note: a five minute speech is requried for the Communication Merit Badge. Some merit badge counselors might accept this presentation for that requirement.
Court of Honor
Next week, the troop will participate in a joint Court of Honor with Troop 77. If you have any ranks, merit badges, or other awards that you would like to be recognized for at this Court of Honor, please come ready to have these signed off at this week’s meeting. Any awards earned after this Tuesday, will be recognized at our Court of Honor in May.
Eagle Project Assistance
Hi it’s Virginia. I’m running a supply drive for my Eagle Scout Project to support the Society of Humane Friends. They’re a local animal rescue group and would greatly appreciate anything you can donate.
If you can help out, please purchase directly from the SOHF Amazon Wish List. Thank you.
P.S. – the SOHF’s most needed items are the pee pads and dog food.

Please share the above information with your friends and family.
December Camping Trip
Troop 177 will not be participating in the Shooting Sports Campout originally scheduled for Dec 10-11, 2022. Troop Leadership is considering a day hike around Stone Mountain next Sunday (December 4th) that would include a meal cooked on the trail for those that need it for the Cooking Merit Badge. Scouts interested in participating in the day hike should let Jamie know by the end of the meeting this Tuesday.
Merit Badge Opportunities
Atlanta Area Council has already announced all of the Merit Badge summits for next year. The next Merit Badge Summit will be Saturday, February 4, 2023 (note the date has changed from the originally published date) and will focus on Eagle Required Merit Badges. Registration open November 29, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

Daniel Boone Council headquartered in Asheville, NC has a rolling slate of virtual merit badge programs, with new merit badges offered every week. These are usually two sessions in the late afternoon or evening. There are quite a few popular merit badges including a large selection of Eagle Required. These usually fill up, but if you look at later weeks, there are plenty of seats still open.
