Troop Open House

As mentioned above, the troop has planned an open house and recruitment night on May 17. They have some great events planned, but we need some adults to help promote this locally. We have made contacts at Lakeside HS, Henderson MS, and Druid Hills MS and are reaching out to others to include in their newsletter. If you know of someone at other area schools that can help get the word out, please reach out and request the following statement be added to the newsletter.

Scouts BSA Troop 177 is having an open house Tuesday May 17 at 730 PM for all girls age 11 and up. We’ll be showing outdoor skills with hands on displays and sharing stories of camping, hiking, kayaking, and white water rafting adventures. We welcome anyone interested in membership or just wanting to learn about scouting. Parents and siblings are also encouraged to attend. Address 1722 Oak Grove Rd Decatur, GA 30033 For more information about Troop 177 visit: www.Troop177Decatur.com

You can also help boost the signal by sharing the event from the Troop Facebook Page, or on other Social Media.

Summer Activities

Once school is out, Troop 177 shifts into Summer mode. As many Scout families are involved in swim meets on Tuesday nights, we tend to forego regular meetings and plan weekly activities to keep the troop engaged throughout the summer. The Scouts have planned some fun activities over the summer (hiking, fishing, geocaching, etc. ) and we will be releasing a full schedule soon. If you’re around and are able to to make it out, we’d love to see you at these events over the summer.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Hightower Trail Cub Scout Day Camp will be held from June 6-10 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily at Chamblee First United Methodist Church. They also need help with setup on June 4, and breakdown after camp closes on Friday June 10th. You can volunteer ½ a day, a full day, 2 or 3 days, or the entire week and all hours served are scoutmaster approved for service. For more information, see Mr. Taylor.
