Autumn is an Eagle!
Autumn successfully completed her Eagle Board of Review on Sunday and is now an Eagle Scout! Please congratulate her on this amazing accomplishment. A special thank you to Mr. Shofner, Mr. Buerek, and Mrs. Henderson for volunteering to serve at Autumn’s Eagle Board.
Meeting this Week
We will have a meeting this Tuesday, please check your email for a note from your SPL for further details.
**Important Announcement: Troop 77 & 177 Selected for BSA Combined (Co-Ed) Troop Pilot
Earlier this year, BSA announced a new pilot program for Combined (coed) troops, starting this Fall. Last week we learned that Troop 77 / 177 has been selected to participate in the pilot.
As part of the pilot, Troop 77 and 177 will effectively combine into a single coed troop, starting from our next Court of Honor on Tuesday, August 27.
As the Chartered Organization Rep for Scouting at Oak Grove, I am personally very excited for OGUMC to be part of this pilot and continue to create a welcoming, inclusive Scouting community. Oak Grove already has a coed Cub Scout Pack and a Coed Venture Crew. And as we approach the 75th anniversary of Troop 77 in 2025, I’m excited for us to help lead the way in this next chapter for the BSA.
If you would like to learn more about the Combined Troop Pilot, linked HERE is an article from Scouting Magazine. And if you have specific questions about the pilot, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Yours in Scouting,
Adam DeLange
